Polar Mount Align
Polar Mount Align helps you manually adjust the base of an equatorial mount. It does not require an account and contains no advertising, analytics or remote services. The app has no Internet permission and does not transmit data to the developer.
Location and sensors
Precise location is optional: it is used to calculate the pole altitude, magnetic declination and local sky. You can enter coordinates manually without granting GPS access. The permission is requested when you select the GPS command. GPS is used only while the app is open and stopped when the app goes into the background. Accelerometer, gravity, gyroscope and magnetometer readings are processed on the phone. No audio, photographs or video are recorded. Camera, microphone, contacts and background location access are not requested.
Local storage
Language, settings, calibrations, mounting profiles, observing sites, favourites and saved sessions remain in the app’s private storage. A session includes coordinates, time and readings and is recorded only when you select the recording command. Continuous sensor readings are not archived. At most 500 sessions are retained; the oldest are removed when this limit is exceeded. Automatic Android backup and automatic transfer of app data are disabled in supported Android configurations.
Export and import
You can export reports or a backup through the Android document picker. The file contains the selected data in plain text, including coordinates in reports and backups. The document provider you choose may be local or cloud-based; its settings and privacy notice apply. Polar Mount Align does not upload files automatically. Diagnostic reports omit coordinates. Import reads only the file you select; it puts back the calibrations the file carries, so check them if the phone or its mount is not the same one.
Voice and vibration
Both are initially disabled. Voice confirmation uses a voice for the selected language that the installed Android speech engine declares as offline. If no such voice is available, the app displays a message. Coordinates and observing-site names are not sent to the speech engine. The speech service operates according to the provider selected in your system settings.
Deletion and control
You can revoke location access in Android settings, delete individual sessions or delete all local data from Privacy and licences. Uninstalling the app removes its private data according to Android’s normal behaviour. Exported documents are not removed by the app and must be deleted from the location where you saved them.

This notice describes Polar Mount Align. Adding network services in the future would require a new review and an updated privacy notice.
